ADACI 25th Annual International Commemoration
June 17 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pmFREE
The African Diaspora Ancestral Commemoration Institute — ADACI is a 25-year-old nonprofit educational, cultural and spiritual organization dedicated to commemorating our African ancestors who perished during the Middle Passage- the Maafa. We also commemorate those African ancestors who survived the Ma’afa to draw upon their strength, courage and determination to overcome obstacles of enormous magnitude. It is with this in mind that ADACI’s programs and activities are conceived – we bring together the best in cultural, education, and spiritual resources to create a cohesive whole in our fragmented heritage, while at the same time reconnecting with those ancestors whose lives and spirits contributed to our existence in the present day. ADACI international branches – ADACI Senegal, ADACI Nigeria and ADACI Brazil, are headed by youth cultural advocates who commemorate our African ancestors of the Maafa.
ADACI will host its 25th Annual International commemoration to remember the African ancestors who perished during the Middle Passage, the Maafa, with a River Walk and Healing Ceremony at the Anacostia Park on Saturday, June 10, 2017. Following the ceremony at the Park, participants will join ADACI at the Anacostia Arts Center for lite refreshments reception from 1:30 pm 3:00 pm.
