3:00 to 7 PM: Black August Celebration w/ Nubian Hueman

Black August is an annual commemoration and prison-based holiday to remember Black freedom fights and political prisoners and to highlight Black resistance against racial oppression. Nubian Hueman and See Squared will be leading a special letter writing workshop where participants will write to Black women political prisoners.

4:00 to 7 PM: Release: An Open Mic Experience 

Our friend, DJ Artis, will be in the house to host a special community open mic. Release A space for artists to share, develop and let their crafts. This open mic is for creatives of all ages, gender expressions, and skill sets. Come share your poetry, music, and stories with a community ready to receive you as you are.

The open mic is a free community building experience for local artists to grow, develop and share their craft.
